MAY 9th MEETING --- note date/time change

NOTE: CHANGE OF DATE and TIME

Self-defense is the topic for our May meeting, and once again, Mr. Ray Boyer will be our guest speaker/demonstrator providing us with a wealth of knowledge relating to self defense awareness, including workplace violence, traveling alone and personal protection techniques.

You won't want to miss this opportunity! Mr. Boyer is a Senior Master Instructor with the S.T.O.P. program (Self-defense for Occupational Protection) and is recognized as one of the "Top Ten" self-defense instructors in the American Karate-Association.

Due to his availability we will meet on Monday, May 9th. Place TBA. Mr. Boyer does have a $50 fee for his presentation, so we need your commitment that you will be attending the May 9th meeting. We will split the cost of the fee - so if ten of us commit, that is only $5 each to receive very valuable, possibly life saving information.

Just think, for about the cost of a glass of wine you can walk away from this meeting feeling more confident, and gain basic knowledge of simple movements and quick releases for self protection.

Date: Monday, May 9th

Where: TBD Time: 6:30 (note different time also)

Wear comfortable clothing as this is interactive.

Cost $50 fee split between those attending.

Please commit and RSVP to Peggy by Wednesday, May 4th. hoemann60@aol.com

WHAT'S GOING ON DOWN THERE?!?!?!?

Wow, what an evening we had on Monday, March 7th. Dr. Shannon Hood was our guest for the evening. I wonder if she knew what she got herself into when she said she'd come talk to our group.

The evening started with a whole table full of goodies, and a little drinky-poo to loosen us up.

We then headed to the living room where we were asked to write down any question we may have for Shannon. A question would be pulled out and Shannon would answer each one. We'd often get off the subject onto another subject (hard to imagine, isn't it!).

I think we had a no-holds barred event....we heard a few "I've got a friend" stories...and learned quite a bit.

I would say it was a great evening of asking all those questions you've always wanted to ask, but didn't!

A special thanks to Dr. Shannon Hood for answering our questions in a professional, yet fun manner!
