GET TO KNOW...DEBBIE REPP-HANKINS

Debbie and Jim will be celebrating their 9th wedding anniversary in January, 2010. She has two daughters, Tiffany (24) and Danielle (22). Danielle just blessed Debbie with her first grand daughter in September. She also has three Shiz Tzu's: Pebbles (9), Lil' Dude (5) and Gizmo (3).

Debbie celebrates her birthday each year on February 15th. They usually do dinner, a movie, a murder mystery (be sure to read about her most embarrassing moment below) or whatever fun thing she can find to do!

Debbie grew up all over because her father was in the Air Force so they moved all over the place. She was born in Arizona, moved to Des Moines, Germany, Louisiana and then back to Mt Ayr, Iowa.

Debbie is employed with a medical transcription company as a mentor; training the new people on their software program. Debbie has also been a Director of Medical Records Department at a hospital, medical coder at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, self-employed as an insurance medical claims adjuster and medical transcriptionist, editor and now a mentor.

The craziest thing Debbie has done is zip lining in Jamaica. She said with all the swinging and dropping it took her breath away at times!

Debbie's most embarrassing moment comes at a Murder Mystery Dinner (she's a fan of these sorts of activities) at the Salisbury House in Des Moines. If you've ever attended one, you know you go in costume and become one of the people in the room that may be the "murderer". So she and her husband were off in costume...she as a gypsy lady and her husband as a great white hunter. They had some things in the closet and had to buy some things at Goodwill, but came up with the outfits. When they got to the Salisbury House everyone else was dressed in tuxedo's and black dresses. The two of them stood around about two minutes and then high tailed it out of there as fast as they could!

When asked if she could go back in time and change one thing, Debbie responded "Not really sure what I would change -- the events that happened made me who I am today."

Debbie's most amazing moment in life...."I love travelling and seeing different places. This past trip to Antigua, we took an excursion to see a cave thinking it was like the ones here in the States. Nope, we had to repel down into the cave where centipedes were all over. You had to be careful not to touch them - acid on them would burn your skin."

Debbie's favorite quote is: Be happy, life is too short to stay mad.

Debbie's words of wisdom for other women fighting frump: Don't be afraid to live outside the box. You'd be amazed at what you find!

Debbie met Julie at her gym and heard about a Halloween party she went to and how much fun she had at the party. Later Debbie read in the newspaper that the Ankeny BT Beauties had hosted the party, so she researched and found the group...and the rest is history. She attended the first meeting and went away thinking "this is a fun group of girls I'd like to do things with".

Debbie's top three things she has participated in so far....flying at the Newton Airport, Amazing Race and the Halloween party!

Debbie is looking forward to getting to know her fellow BT-ers, and to see what fun activities we do in 2010.
